Ranks

The levels defined and recognized by the SLM on an international scale represent the various levels in academy training, and correspond to progressive technical improvement in learning the Seven Styles. They can be obtained by appointment or by examination.

Apprentice

(access: automatic on enrolment) Pupils aged between 6 and 12 years on enrolling in the courses. Each Apprentice is entrusted to an Instructor who includes him in a Clan. He/she may only use a light dagger with a blue coloured blade. An Apprentice’s official uniform comprises CombatPants and white CombatTee, with no belt.

Youngling

(access: automatic on enrolment) Pupil aged 13 or over when enrolling in the courses. Each Youngling is entrusted to an Instructor who includes him in a Clan. He/she may only use a light saber with a blue coloured blade. An Youngling’s official uniform comprises CombatPants and black CombatTee, with no belt. Female Younglings can wear the white CombatTee if they wish to.

Padawan

(access: appointment by the Instructor) The Youngling aged 16 or over, who is believed by his/her own Instructor to deserve this Level. A Padawan is prepared for the Jedi exam through apprenticeship to a Master (minimum level Knight) who will them present him/her at the Jedi exam. In no apprenticeship is available, the Instructor will prepare the Padawan. A Padawan takes part in the lessons like all the other pupils, and may be involved by the course teacher as his assistant during teaching. He may only use a saber with a blue coloured blade. A Padawan’s official uniform comprises CombatPants and black CombatTee, with official belt.

Jedi | Sith

(access: academy exam) The Padawan who, after passing the Style Exams for the First and Second Form of Light Saber Combat, also passes the examination to obtain the Level in question before a regular examination panel. Can choose the colour of the blade for his/her saber. If the Padawan wishes to affiliate with the Dark Side due to his competitive nature, technique and tactics, he may assume the Level of Sith. In this case, he may use a saber with a red-coloured blade, of all variations. The official uniform for a Jedi | Sith foresees the alternative of: Combat Pants and Jedi Tunic, with official belt; Combat Pants Jedi Tunic worn over an official subtunic in the colours available, with official belt; Combat Pants and official subtunic in colours available, with official belt.

Jedi | Sith Knight

(access: academy exam) The Jedi | Sith who, after passing the Style Exams for the Third and Fourth Form of Light Saber Combat, also passes the examination to obtain the Level in question before a regular examination panel. The Jedi | Sith Knight must choose a Padawan to follow him in his preparation of the Jedi exam (or Sith exam, if this characteristic is identified in him during his training). In this case, the Knight is granted the title of Master, but it is used only by his/her own Padawan. The official uniform for a Jedi | Sith Knight can be: Combat Pants and Knight Tunic, with official belt with accessories; Combat Pants and Knight Tunic worn over the official subtunic in the colours available, with official belt with accessories; Combat Pants and official subtunic in the colours available, with official belt with accessories.

Jedi | Sith Master

(access: academy exam) The Jedi | Sith Knight who meets the following requirements: a) having passed the Style Exams for the Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Form; b) having passed the exam for obtaining the Level in question before a regular Examination panel; c) having already brought a Padawan to the level of passing the Jedi | Sith exam. They are given the Title of School Master. The official uniform for a Jedi | Sith Dark Lord Master can be: Combat Pants and Master Tunic, with official belt; Combat Pants and Master Tunic worn over the official subtunic in the colours available, with official belt; Combat Pants and official subtunic in the available colours, with official belt.

Titles

The Academy Titles (obtained by appointment or through examinations) are divided into progressively higher ranks: competitive (“warriors”), stylistic (“specialists”) and teaching (“officers”). They can be awarded starting from Jedi | Sith Level by the Rector of the Academy to which the pupils belong or by the SLM.

The Warriors

Guardian

(access: academic appointment) The student who distinguishes himself by special competitive ability, showing a considerable aptitude for combat and obtaining 1st place or at least 3 placements (1st, 2nd, or 3rd), which may also not be consecutive, in a national competition.

Master of Arms

(access: academic appointment) The student that shows increasing improvement in his own abilities in combat, distinguishing himself by results in a particular way in several competitions, both official and non, obtaining 3 first places or at least 6 placements (1st, 2nd, or 3rd), which may also not be consecutive, in a national competition. Natural evolution of the title of Guardian.

Battlemaster

(access: academic appointment) The student who shows superior ability in combat, distinguishing himself by results in a particular way in several competitions, both official and non, obtaining 6 first places or at least 10 (1st, 2nd, or 3rd), which may also not be consecutive, in a national competition. Natural evolution of the title of Master of Arms.

The Specialists

Sentinel

(access: academic appointment) The student who distinguishes himself by his special expertise in one or more styles, showing aptitude for technical study and obtaining 2 consecutive acknowledgements of Style (Best Style, Best Technique, Best Sequence) or at least 4 non-consecutive acknowledgements in a national competition.

Style Keeper

(access: academic appointment) The student who shows a particular skill in one or more styles, and obtains 4 consecutive acknowledgements of Style (Best Style, Best Technique, Best Sequence) or at least 8 non-consecutive acknowledgements in a national competition. Natural evolution of the title of Sentinel.

Style Master

(access: SLM exam) The student who shows superior ability in expertise of one or more Styles, reaching an extremely high level of specialization, approved by passing the Style Master Exam. Natural Evolution of the title of Style Keeper.

The Veterans

Mentor

(access: academic appointment) The student reaching Knight level that brings his own Padawan to pass the Jedi /Sith exam.

School Master

(access: academic appointment) The student who achieves the level of Master by passing the relative exam, completing his own training path. A natural evolution for the Mentor.

Academy Master

(access: SLM appointment following SLM exams) The Instructor who achieves Level 7 Qualification, completing his own training path.

Grand Master

(access: SLM appointment following SLM exams) The student who achieves the title of Master of Style in all seven styles.

Honours

The Honours concern the technical, management and promotional aspects of the Academy. They can be awarded starting from the Level of Youngling by the Dean of the School that they belong to. Collaboration offered by the pupils for honours are to be intended as voluntary, except for what the academies can offer autonomously based on their own economic possibilities and careful appreciation.

The Experts

Researcher

The pupil who helps with the maintenance of the light sabers and materials at the Academy under the guidance of the Master Sabersmith.

Master Sabersmith

The pupil appointed to maintain the light sabers and all the academy’s technical material. He answers to the Dean regarding his work.

Lore Keeper

The pupil who provides operational support for video – or collaborates on producing promotional material for the Academy.

The Assistants

Prophet

The pupil who has actively collaborated and collaborates with the Academy in promoting the activities via continuous, relevant participation in events.

Shadow

The pupil who takes part in the work of the “Shadow Team” and makes him/herself available for travelling promotional events for the Academy.

Quartermaster

The pupil who collaborates with the Dean providing administrative, managerial or operational assistance.

Shadow Master

The pupil in charge for the “Shadow Team” and makes him/herself available for travelling promotional events for the Academy.
